IoTPi 4 & 6 Channel Industrial IoT board based on RP2040

Found interesting IoT board on Kickstarter developed by SB Components an RP2040-based IoT board "The IoTPi", which is powered by the Raspberry Pi's RP2040 microprocessor and comes in 4 and 6 channel relay options.

Many of you have seen IoT projects, but if you haven't, let me explain what IoT is: "The Internet of Things describes physical objects with sensors, processing ability, software, and other technologies that connect and exchange data with other devices and systems over the internetor other communication network."

IoTPi was launched on Kickstarter by Ashish, who previously released StackyPi, another RP2040 based board in PiZero small factor that supports all Raspberry Pi HATs, which was successfully financed owing to a shortage of Raspberry Pis. Now, Ashish has developed an RP2040-based IoT board, which is the first of its kind.

IoTPi is a fantastic board that has a superb mix of RP2040 MCU and ESP8266, making it unique.

IoTPi Specifications

  • Onboard AC to DC converter allows you to plug in 220V and it will convert it to 5V.
  • It also features a 5V power supply with a two-pin screw terminal.
  • Communication Protocol RS485 "Multiple devices on the same bus can interact in both directions using RS-485, which is a duplex communication technology. As indicated in the diagrams, RS-485 is most commonly used in half-duplex mode, with just one communication line ('A' and'B' as a pair)."
  • Power Supply Isolated
  • Button to Reset & Boot
  • Additional GPIO Pins can be used to connect sensors, IO, and other devices.
  • Relay Indicator with LEDs

IoTPi is now available on Kickstarter, where you may get it for £30 when the campaign ends. It will cost £47.
