Braveridge's Remote ID employs Nordic's nRF52840 SoC To broadcast drone ID and position to airspace authority

 A drone tracker that uses Bluetooth 5 Long Range makes it possible to follow remote ID restrictions

A low-power drone monitoring and regulatory compliance solution have been made available by the Japanese IoT solutions provider Braveridge for drone makers to include in their goods. Through Nordic nRF52840 SoC-enabled Bluetooth® 5 Long Range communication, the "Remote ID" gadget may broadcast the drone's published ID and precise location. Braveridge has also created a Remote ID receiver and an iOS/Android smartphone software to show, track, and record the orbit of several drones.

Since drones and radio-controlled aircraft are required to communicate aircraft information, such as basic ID, position, and authentication, every second, reliable Bluetooth 5 Long Range capabilities is crucial for Remote ID. The nRF52840 SoC supports 95 dBm RX sensitivity (at 1 Mbps Bluetooth LE) and 4x range support for full Bluetooth 5 functionality. An on-chip power amplifier increases maximum output power to +8 dBm for a total link budget of >103 dBm.

The drone's main unit supplies energy to the Remote ID, which is small (40 by 40 mm) and light (8.5 g).

All unmanned aerial vehicles in Japan that weigh more than 100 g must have remote identification capability, according to recently modified laws. According to Japanese legislation, only the server on the Cloud controlled by the Civil Aviation Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism can be used to identify aircraft. The Nordic SoC's Bluetooth LE or Bluetooth 5 Long Range connectivity is supported by the Braveridge app, enabling ID programming for the Remote ID board and Remote ID receiver.
